Mentoring

Encouragement, Connection, and Confidence for Young People

About Mentoring

We know that growing up isn’t always easy—and some children and teens need a little extra support along the way. Our mentoring service offers a safe, supportive relationship with a trusted adult who is there to listen, guide, encourage, and champion your child as they navigate life’s challenges.

Mentoring is not therapy—it’s a positive, proactive relationship that builds confidence, resilience, and connection in a young person’s life.

What is Mentoring?

Mentoring is a personalised, one-on-one support relationship between a young person and a trained mentor. Mentors offer guidance, encouragement, and a listening ear—helping children and teens to:

  • Build confidence and self-esteem

  • Strengthen social and emotional skills

  • Talk through worries, frustrations, or tricky situations

  • Explore identity, purpose, and strengths

  • Set and work towards personal goals

  • Feel seen, heard, and supported by a consistent, caring adult

Who is Mentoring For?

Mentoring can be a great fit for children or teens who:

  • Feel anxious or overwhelmed

  • Are experiencing changes at home or school

  • Need help navigating friendships or social situations

  • Could benefit from a positive role model

  • Are neurodivergent and would enjoy regular encouragement from a trusted adult

  • Want to build confidence, resilience, and a stronger sense of self

We work with each child as an individual—mentoring looks different depending on their age, needs, interests, and preferences.

What Happens in a Mentoring Session?

Mentoring sessions are flexible, engaging, and completely tailored to the young person. Depending on their goals and interests, sessions might include:

  • Chatting about school, friendships, or life in general

  • Playing games, working on creative projects, or spending time outdoors

  • Setting small goals and celebrating progress

  • Practising emotional regulation and self-reflection

  • Learning simple strategies to handle stress, change, or tricky emotions

Our mentors are compassionate and experienced in working with young people.
