PEERS- Social Skills Courses for Adolescents

PEERS for Adolescents is a 12-16 week evidence-based social skills intervention for motivated teens in high school who are interested in learning new ways of making and keeping friends. At Finding Voices we work in collaboration with other accredited PEERs providers to deliver the course.

During each group session, teens are taught important social skills and given the opportunity to practice these skills in the sessions. Parents attend separate sessions at the same time, where they are taught how to assist their teen in making and keeping friends.

Teens will learn how to:

  • Use appropriate conversational skills
  • Use humour appropriately
  • Use electronic communication
  • Enter and exit conversations
  • Be a good host during get-togethers
  • Be a good sport
  • Handle arguments and disagreements
  • Change a bad reputation
  • Handle rumours and gossip
  • Handle rejection, teasing and bullying.

If your teen or young adult needs support with strengthening their social skills, and making friends, get in touch today to register your interest in PEERS!
